This is the first quilt I have made just because. No one in mind. Not even my colours. But it is sure doing it for me!
Quilting fun for family and friends!

WIP my secret quilt - still in love
Our affair is still doing well. The blocks are sewn together and they are beautiful. Each and everyone.

WIP Wednesday - Climbing to Heaven
I am making 2 Jacob's Ladder Quilts. This quilt block has been on my bucket list since I first saw it. I am not sure why, but I think I have a thing for 9 block variations.
One in pink.
Sisters, my cousins, so the same quilt, different colour ways. And one for the mom. A quilt kit I had ordered from Sew Lux. And then promptly forgot about in a flurry of Christmas sewing. I had an aha moment when I found the half made quilt. Perfect for my Aunt! Different pattern same material.

I love patchwork squares. A lot! I love the cutting and the sewing. I love baby blankets, small and delicate. I love making them and I love giving them.

Saturday Dirt
The peas are up and blossoming. We have had 3 peas each! My vision of filling the freezer may not come to fruition this year. We are planting more peas!
The potatoes however we may be eating forever. Good thing I love potatoes! Small hill of potatoes, they are flowering. I have heard you can gently reach in and grab a couple of potatoes, I am going to try it. There are 19 more plants to play with.
And my large compost bin of potatoes! Can hardly wait to see if this really works.
I now have huge plans of turning the entire backyard into a garden!

It is done! I woke up on Tuesday morning and thought "Oh No! My nephews birthday is July 2nd. I must get his quilt in the mail." I mean really, it only needed the binding tacked down. Finished before work and in the mail Tuesday afternoon.

Saturday dirt
So this week I am very excited. I purchased 2 mint plants.
One is garden mint and the other is grapefruit mint. They smell like heaven! As
I was digging a hole in my plot I was politely told that I may not plant mint
loose in the garden. Sigh. I now have a very tiny pot that has my 2 mints in
them.
I also planted 2 rows of bush snap peas. Can hardly wait for them to come up.
I switched plots with a neighbour and she had 2 kinds of chard, a radicchio and a green plant that over wintered. Not sure what the green plant is but my daughter said it was the best greens ever! Super exciting!I have been reading up on sustainable living and adapting in place. Love the concepts. The current book is “Making Home” by Sharon Astyk. It really speaks to me. I am going to try to live with less of a footprint.
I have been making steel cut oats in my pressure cooker
every morning. I put them in the pot at night, set the timer and voila,
fabulous oatmeal ready first thing in the morning. I use oats, water, almond milk, raisons and,
of course, cinnamon. Love my cinnamon! This has got to be one of the most cost
efficient breakfasts out there. I purchased a 1 kg bag (2.2 pounds) for $6.00.
I looked on line and that is 8 cups. For a breakfast of 4 that is $.75 or $.19
cents each. I am not counting the milk, nuts, cinnamon and raisons I put on them but still super
economical. Anyone have anything inexpensive they eat for breakfast? Please let
me know and I can add it to the breakfast line up for a change.
