What I am working on

The blocks are all built for Morgan's quilt, just need to be sewn together. I am still wondering about the backing, I like it as it reminds me of my Grandma....so at the same time wonder if it is too old fashioned. It is growing on me, love the purple.

Jordan's quilt is praying on my mind. Every time I mention sewing Jordan says"Jordan's quilt?" Don't know what the problem is as the top is finished and just needs to be sewn together.

Instead of the above two quilts I cut out another. Love the summery colours, very excited about this one!

Completed 3 more Lady of the Lake blocks! They are gorgeous, very happy with them. This project has been languishing for want of some organization. So sorted the cut squares for the frame around the blocks. Took some time but not the amount I had built it up to. 7 blocks done. It was the leader ender for my bee block so have enough HST's for a couple more! Bonus.

I also completed the blocks for my my star fall quilt. The pattern is in the current edition of Modern Quilt, by Faith Jones. Laid all the blocks out, very thrilled, it looks fabulous in the museum prints. I was going to sew it together and  realized I had neglected to trim the blocks. Surprise, they did not go together.

Finished my brothers blocks, just need to sew it together. It feels like a theme.

It was a very thinking rather than sewing day. Picked out four projects and cut out one. Three more to go. Love the cutting and planning.

June Bee Blocks

I have a completion and a stall on my June Bee Blocks. The improv flowers over the fall was completed. Yeah! Mostly because she sent out the fabric. Gorgeous fabrics and a great concept, very clever bee mate!

My otherBee Block I could not complete as I did not read the instructions! Just glanced over them and checked off the bits in my head...muslin, check, greens, check, black...all kinds of black but no solid black. Off to the store next week.

I couldn't resist, here is a picture of my new balcony chairs. Love the blue colour and the block just fits so perfectly.

A productive weekend

I have spent weekends working harder on my sewing with less to show. How does that happen?

My brothers quilt now has a back and is half quilted! Yeah! Love working with the shot cottons, they are so soft and light.

The baby quilt is quilted and bound, just needs to be hand sewn down. I know I should do it on the machine for strength but I love the hand sewing part the best! Well best next to buying fabric!

May Bee Blocks

Well another month is here and it is time for the Bee Blocks.

For the Simply Solids: a modern bee, this triangle block. The block is quite large but fun to do. My Bee mate posted a tutorial if you wanted to give it a try. The link is to Little D and Me at learningtosewasigo.blogspot.ca/2013/04/simply-solids-triangles.html

 The next block up was the Garden Fence block. These were requested to be in her daughters favourite colours. This just happens to be my daughters favourite colours too. Bet their quilt does not turn out orange and green like my daughters quilt. Some people can just stay on target! I think I need lessons.

Every month I think how lucky I am to be in a quilting bee. Love it to pieces.

April Bee Blocks

The Bee Block finishes. Very fun blocks.

Paint Box block. I seem to have misplaced the pictures. Gone! They were extremely cute.

Heart block. The blocks are not that big, that is a little person's hand. Jordan is my biggest fan.

Love being in Bee's. They make me keep going, or just get up and start sewing. As it is for someone else, you can not put it off. Sometimes outside motivation is all you have. Work it baby!

Happy Mother's Day - a little late

I wrote this prior to leaving for Smithers. Thought about editing but.....

Happy Mother's Day! I hope everyone has a fabulous day! My daughter took me to Jurassic Park 3D! Yeah! I am so up for this. (It did not disappoint, loved it!!!)

Kelly's quilt is done! One corner left to hand sew (Now all done and not washed!!!). Then into the wash tonight (I am torn about washing, I know some of my quilts are out there a long time prior to being washed. Scrunchy goodness versus crispy sleek newness. It's a dilemma. Lately I have been wondering about the chemicals in the fabric. Any thoughts on this?)

I did straight line quilting cause I love it. Still not sure how all the green snuck into my turquoise and red quilt, but I love it. Reminds me of growing things.

On the back I used the remnants of the wasteful tree blocks! Love the back! A big thank you to Robyn who kept me motivated and sewing to get this quilt done!!! She did most of the piecing on the back.

I am going to have to carry this quilt onto the plane as it weighs a ton. It is for my Marsha Stewart daughter so will have to wrap accordingly. Note to self - get bag, bows and ribbon! And a card! I am sooo pleased I finished this on time.

Kelly's birthday placemats - four done, two to hand bind! I can always finish them up there, after all they were due in March.

On the sewing machine is the last square for my 2nd brothers quilt, Morgan's birthday quilt, Nevermore, Jordan's birthday quilt, Salt Water, and a new star quilt that I saw on Faith's blog at http://www.freshlemonsquilts.com/. Bought the pattern and have started cutting out two quilts.

So Happy Mother's Day to me! Doing what I love! Off to make my May Bee Blocks.

WIP'S Wednesday 17Apr13

I thought I was going great guns! Saturday finished the tree blocks and the court house squares! Laid it out on the floor, played abit, looks good. Slept on it cause you never know if "it's almost done" makes it look good or you "just want it to be over". Still looked good on Sunday, yay! Started sewing some of the blocks together. Looking fantastic! I love it!

Then I remember I was to be making my Wee Bee Canadian blocks. Sewed them up. Things are looking good.

Screech! The bee blocks are not supposed to look like that, take them apart. And I sewed the tree blocks on the wrong side! Two days later and I am still in redo mode. Ach, curses foiled again!
