Christmas in July

I have been so bad at posting my quilts in a timely manner. This is a son-in-law quilt. Ta-da! All three are now finished and gifted.
I had different plans for this quilt that I had been saving. You know, the fox with the bow tie, too cute. However when I saw the Volkswagen Van material all plans changed. I bought the material, leafed through a magazine and found a pattern and sewed it up.
Grandson is modeling the other birthday gifts.
Love when a quilt comes together like that!
Made gluten, dairy and sugar free muffins for thanksgiving. They were delicious. Served them with apple compote.
Also made a sugar free plum compote with prune plums.
We had a very Happy Thanksgiving!

That Quilt!

Have you ever had one of those quilts? The one where everything goes wrong? You know, you clean up then can't find the blocks, you lay the blocks out and they fall off the bed, you lay them out again and the dog rearranges them. Then to top it off you sew it together wrong and don't notice until you are quilting, you can't sew a straight line because the blocks aren't lined up, yes sewed wrong. Yup, this was THAT QUILT.

However it is done!!! And no I did NOT resew it. The lines are crocked. I did not point it out and maybe Jerome will never notice.

Love this fabric! I used an odd assortment of black and white fabric for the crosses.

And the pattern was easy to follow, it was an operator error for sure.

This makes 4 twin quilts and 6 baby quilts this year. I would like to say I am ahead of the game in using my scraps but you could not tell looking around.

Look I was left a present in exchange for the plums.

 Enjoy your fall!

Robi's Quilt

My local quilt store had the most adorable fish fabric ever! I have now made two big boy quilts for the boys. I am using the same pattern for all the grandkids. That way if more come along they will all be similar if not the same.
I would have gotten better pictures however he would not let me take it off his bed.
Reminder for next time to take pictures prior to gifting.

Someone was after my plums!

Is it September?

How did that happen? The summer flew by with lots of family time, gardening, trips to the beach, picking berries and very little sewing. So fun. Black currents are my new favourite, used to be blackberries, oh and raspberries, yes love the taste of summer.

My granddaughter made a quilt, picked the fabric and design, and we sewed together. Super fun but a lot of work and probably too big a project for the first time. I ended up finishing it. She really just likes the creative part not the real work. Lol don’t we all.

I made this log cabin and am stalled as I am not sure if I want to add slashing or leave as is.
I liked it so much I started another one.
And a couple of baby blankets in the works. The ladies I work with are busy creating families. There are two boys coming up, one in December the other in February. And an unknown due September 17, my mom’s birthday. The other unknown is my daughter, due in February. I am very excited. I obviously had a thing for Janet Clare the day I went shopping.

Working on my last grandchild quilt! Yeah, it was a bee block.

Jordan's Quilt

Last year I decided to make all the grand kids big girl/boy quilts for their bed. For the girl quilts I used Cora Queen of the Sea. The fabric choice pretty well decided itself. While I was in the fabric store one of the customers was showing off her quilt. Love at first site. I had to have it!! So I bought enough for two quilts. Fast forward to November 2017 and I have all four made and their backings however could not get it together to get them quilted. I toyed with the idea of sending them to my cousin to long arm but why should my bad planning be her headache! Fine, I will give them for birthday gifts. Jordan's is first up.
 Love the colours!

I pieced the back from my stash.
I thought I would free motion quilt sea shells. Not so great but super fun.
One quilt finished.

Sylvie's Table Topper

We moved from our 2 bedroom condo to a 5 bedroom house on April 1. I loved my condo however it was getting small for the 4 of us. We have been living together for 3 years. While Robi was younger it was very doable, however now he is 4 it is too small for all of us. So we purchased a multi-generational house with my other daughter and son-in-law. We went from 3 adults and one child to 5 adults and one child. I have a suite in the basement, supposedly so I can sew. I have not yet dragged out the machine.

In the condo, Sylvie would come in every two weeks to clean. She has been taking care of us for 10 years and is like a part of the family. We tried to get her to move with us but it is too far for her.
As a thank you for all her care I made her a table topper from some of my favourite fabrics.
She is thrilled! We miss her terribly!!!
