Bowl Cozies

It is the count down to Christmas, 2 more sleeps. I have sent off the parcel to Granny and Grandad. Have not yet heard if they have received it but I mailed it 10 days ago (feeling virtuous). I made Christmas Cookies last night, Speculaas, and burned 2 of the trays. I am not that sad as I probably would have eaten them all (which I did), just faster. Having them slightly charred has curbed my munching.

I am making bowl cozies to send away. Unfortunatley I keep giving them away. Martin's daughter was here and gave 2 to her, she has been admiring them. And my cousin just fell and broke her shoulder. Seemed like it might be a good thing for her to have, either that or they will be too much to hold onto and she spills down the front. Feeling slightly guilty already and she doesn't even have them.
Here in BC we are to isolate and do everything in our power to stop the spread. I finally have my head around the idea and am looking forward to some Christmas sewing. I NEED a new Christmas quilt, lol, not. These are matching quilts I made for Martin and I. Actually I need to work on my Bee Blocks that are almost a year over due. So am very much looking forward to checking them off my list.

I have 3 adult girl quilts to make for my nieces. They have turned or will be turning 21 which is when I said they would get their quilts. One is to be green, one blue and one red. I am thinking the same patter and just different main colours.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
This is our tree this year and I am very happy with it!

Girl Quilts

So I needed 4 girl quilts and only made 3.

For my favourite waitress. Girl quilt instead of boy quilt.

And team mate Amy for baby Isabel.

And team mate Julia for baby Penelope, to be called Poppy.

Team mate Sanaa will have to wait until the new year.

Boy Quilts

I made 2 the same. Is there a rule about this? One is for my naturopath and one for my favourite waitress. I very much doubt their 2 worlds will ever collide. And I very much liked the pattern and the fabric. My grandson noticed it was the same fabric from his quilt.
A simple design with fabulous fabric.

The backing is adorable and I am very happy with it. If I had been thinking I would have bought some kind of fish fabric, lol. Oh well.

2 boy quilts done! I presented one and the backing was more loved than the front, LOL. When I went to gift the second quilt it turns out she had had a girl not a boy, oops.

Quilt for Katie and one in reserve!

Sherri Lynn Woods Improv - finally a finish

I applied to and was accepted to create a small quilt for Sherri Lynn Woods book "The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters: A Guide to Creating, Quilting, and Living Courageously". It was super fun and for me a steep learning curve.
Here is the quilt I made. I call it "Through my apartment window".
I had a chance to play with improv and free motion quilting. Life is so good.

I  have the best Bee Mates ever! They are the most wonderful talented group of ladies I have ever had the privilege to sew with.

Getting it together!

Peter Pan and Wendy

My youngest granddaughter turned one the end of February and I just finished her quilt. It is Peter Pan fabric I found in my local quilt store just after she was born. Love it. So pink and pretty!
The fabric is so pale and low volume, I just love it. Not my usual style but very beautiful. The pale pink row is tiny Tinkerbells, so cute!

The back is a lovely soft flannel. After it was gifted she sat on my lap and petted the blanket!
Yes it was a huge hit!

Pam Kitty Morning Picnic Quilt

Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you and the new norm of social distancing. I don't go out much and have to say last time I went to the grocery store I was a little surprised, and grateful, for the procedures they have put in place. Lines on the ground outside the store so not too many people go in, sanitizing all the carts, arrows on the floor directing traffic flow and lines on the floor to exit through the cashier. I sometimes feel we are living through a movie, say "Contagion", with way more hand washing. To combat the stress I have a practice of meditation, yoga and yoga nidra. And of course quilting. Quilting is my happy place!

I have been working on this quilt for years. Saw the pattern, ordered the kit, and then it sat. Then another flurry of activity to cut it all out and sew the squares. Last effort saw it as a top. It was to have been quilting and presented at Christmas but that never happened. LOL not sure why I think I can complete anything in December.
With the social distancing and staying home I completed this in 2 days. It has now been delivered and is being loved in its new home.

Colin's Quilt

I have a wonderful brother in law! This quilt was to be for his birthday but I missed it. Not by much though not sure that counts in anything but horseshoes. A tale of a 2019 quilt.

He loved it!

I thought it looked so good at my place he almost didn't get it, lol.

Quilt is very happy in it's new home in New Brunswick!

Hello February!

Hello February! I have missed writing in my blog. More than that I can't remember what I have done!

I made this cute baby quilt for a member of our choir. It was for her second baby. Aneela Hoey has the best fabric ever!

This was a fabulous pattern to whip up. Love how it turned out!
