2025 Fall bits and bites

So I have not been recording my quilts.

I broke down and got a new phone on black Friday. Super thrilled with it. However, my photos did not make it to the new phone. Lots of what I have are fine to disappear but I do want to record my quilts.

Here they are:

Puzzle 1

 Puzzle 2:

Bars Quilt: My daughter Kelly picked this for her friend. It has cuddle cloth on the back, super cozy. It gives the quilt a nice weight to it. My maple trees look fabulous in the fall!

Norwegian Woods: My daughter Robyn made this quilt years ago. She wanted to machine quilt it herself. Somehow we both thought it wasn't finished, had mistakes, not sure... but it sat in the needs to be finished pile. I took it out this fall and it is fine!!! She could have been using it for years. Sigh. I must have been a real Ogre on the quilting. Thank goodness she still sews!

Star Quilt 5 & 6: These are the grandkids quilts. I have made this pattern for all the grandkids now! The last two children had to wait the longest. My daughter is a Alfred Hitchcock fan so she is thrilled with the backing! One quilt has a pink border row and the other a white border row. Not much difference but they are happy with the distinguishing feature.

And a couple of shots of my sourdough bread. It looks a little flat as I always seem to be in a hurry and want to cook my bread when I want and not when the bread wants.

August bits and bites

I started a new quilt. Not sure it is turning out how I wanted but will keep chugging away and see where it goes. I have wanted to do a snowball quilt forever so this is definitely checking that box.

I went to visit my long time friend at her cottage. Wow! Absolutely stunning place and the weather was amazing.

She got me crocheting. I managed to not pick up a hook until the last day but... I had forgotten how much I like crochet. The block is wonky but I need a new dish cloth.

I started a new sourdough starter and as I was going away I made bread too quickly. Oops. Starting again today.

As always so super grateful to be enjoying the bounty of summer! My first zucchini!

Teddy - a boy quilt

I went to a 40th birthday party (how did my children get so old?). At the party was a baby that I had forgotten to send a quilt to

. He is now 9 months old and sooo cute. Crawling on the grass! My girls never did that, they hated the feeling of grass on the knees.

Anyways, while I was making the Valentina quilt I also finished up a boy quilt that was sitting there. I now know what to do with it!! So excited to send it to this cute little man, Theodore.

A boy quilt - Baby Paul

Got the gender correct this time! I did enjoy making the girl quilt so I made another in blueish colours.

I am sure there is an easier way to put this quilt together but I laid out quilt and then sewed it all together. Quilting was stitch in the ditch. I had made this quilt larger than the girl quilt so did not put an extra border around it. Love the bear backing!!!!

Health update: I am getting stronger. 3 months of not using your arms post surgery takes a lot of strength out. I walked 11,000 to 12,000 steps daily on our camping trip with rest days every 3rd day. Felt really good!

A Year - Valentina a girl quilt

Seems like I am only posting once a year. It is so weird as blogging used to be my life line. I guess I now have a life.

February 25, 2025 I had a heart attack and a stent placed. March 4 I had triple bypass surgery. I am very glad to have a life!

I was a little confused after the surgery so made a girl quilt for a baby boy. Oops. All was not lost as I did need a girl quilt too. Valentina, now 2 months old.
